Orthopedic surgeons are committed to diagnosing, preventing, and treating disorders of the joints, bones, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. While some orthopaedists are generalists, others specialize in certain parts of the body, such as foot and ankle, hip and knee, hand, shoulder and elbow, and spine. Orthopedic surgeons treat patients of every age group. They also diagnose sports injuries, bone tumours, club foot, hip dysplasia, bow legs, back pain, spinal stenosis, ruptured disks, hand arthritis, carpal tunnel, hand injuries, limb lengthening, osteoporosis, orthopedic trauma, arthritis, foot and ankle injuries, and Achilles tendon injuries.
