How quickly can diabetes affect your eyes?

Dr. Nita Shah, eye specialist from Ayush LASIK Center, Chembur, talks about the effects diabetes has on the eyes.

According to Dr. Shah, the major effects that diabetes has on a person’s eyes are as follows:

  1. The diabetic patient may experience lower eyesight.
  2. They could also see black spots.
  3. Or they may experience mosquito-like small black spots floating, that may increase at some point.
  4. The patient may also have difficulty in identifying and differentiating colors.
  5. Diabetes may also cause loss of vision.

If these problems persist, the water pressure in the eye increases, and the person may suffer from vision loss and redness of the eye which is quite painful.
